It’s not a big secret that Michigan football is looking to add some experience to the secondary. Safeties and corners have been among the Wolverines’ most popular targets.
And with the depth chart, it makes sense. Michigan football has talented players there. But they are a little thinner on proven guys, which isn’t something you want when you are expected to compete for a Big Ten championship.
The injury to Rod Moore didn’t help. Moore could have played some snaps at nickel in addition to safety. DJ Waller also left during the spring portal window, along with Keon Sabb.
Quentin Johnson coming back was important. Amorion Walker is also back with Michigan football but he’s expected to play wide receiver. So the Wolverines have some work to do. Yet, they are making progress at least with their top cornerback target in the transfer portal.
That’s Terrance Brooks, the former Texas Longhorns cornerback. He has started 19 games over the past two seasons. He was honorable mention All Big-12 last season. Brooks is 6-foot, 209 pounds. He’s ranked as the 11th-best cornerback in the portal by 247 Sports and 106th overall.
Ex-Texas cornerback Terrance Brooks is set to visit Michigan next week, sources tell @247Sports.

There has been chatter about a visit and Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports posted on X that Brooks is expected to visit Michigan football next week. The Wolverines have a lot to sell. They have playing time and a spot opposite of Will Johnson available. Plus, their defensive line is as good as any in college football.
Brooks would give Michigan football another proven starter and this visit is a huge step in the direction of a commitment, which the Wolverines need.
