Philadelphia Eagles Could Pursue High Impact Free Agent Tight End
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have put together a busy offseason thus far, but they may not be done yet. Howie Roseman and the front office put together a masterpiece during the 2024 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, the Eagles did lose both Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox to retirement this offseason, which takes a lot of leadership out of the locker room.

At this point in the offseason, roster moves have slowed down dramatically. However, there are still quite a few impact players available in free agency that contenders like the Eagles could consider signing.

With that in mind, there are a few that make sense specifically for the Eagles. One would help take the offense to a much more productive level.

Philadelphia Eagles Might Pursue Impact Free Agent Tight End

According to Eagles Today on Fan Nation, Logan Thomas could be an option for the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Washington Commanders tight end is still a free agent and could be a nice No. 2 tight end behind Dallas Goedert.

“Philadelphia is in a good position to compete next season and should be going all in on the current roster. Thomas may not have a massive name, but he could help provide even more necessary depth.”

During the 2023 season with the Commanders, Thomas caught 55 passes for 496 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers show his ability to impact a game, even though they aren’t gaudy numbers.

Standing in at 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, the 32-year-old tight end could help create mismatches for the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense. He can go up and get jump balls in the red zone especially. Jalen Hurts could use a big body target like Thomas.

In addition to his ability to make a big red zone impact, Thomas would be much-needed depth talent behind Goedert. The Eagles have seen their starting tight end go down with injury issues in the past. Thomas would give them a reliable option to step in if that happens again in 2024.

All of that being said, this would be a very wise move for the Philadelphia Eagles to make. Thomas may not be a star, but he’s the kind of solid and consistent presence that every contender needs to have to make up for any injuries that come their way.
